  • Zoom released an important security update on April 2nd, 2020.   • On April 1st, 2020, Zoom’s CEO, Eric Yuan, announced that his company will focus on addressing privacy concerns and identified security vulnerabilities with Zoom software.
  • GHC Information Technology implements and requires the use of Duo Multi-factor Authentication (MFA) to protect employee Zoom accounts from compromise. Students can enhance the security of their GHC Single Sign-On account by enrolling in Duo at: https://duoportal.highlands.edu/
  • The Information Security Program at GHC, with guidance provided by USG Cybersecurity, is closely monitoring the use of Zoom for online instruction.   • Used properly and in accordance with GHC Information Technology policies, Zoom is FERPA compliant.
  • In the event that GHC’s Information Security Program or USG Cybersecurity deems that the use of Zoom presents an unacceptable level of risk to the privacy or security of GHC students and employees, GHC will immediately transfer online classes to alternative video communication platforms, such as Microsoft Teams.
  • As always, GHC recommends that all students and employees ensure their devices are up-to-date and contain the most recent security and software updates as soon as they are released by device manufacturers and software providers. These updates close security flaws used by hackers to steal data or gain control over devices.
