How To Use Duo Without Cellular Service

A major cellular outage occurred Thursday morning that affected many AT&T, Verizon, and T-Mobile users. While the cause(s) of this problem are still unclear and we don’t know if another outage may happen soon, you can protect your access to student email and D2L by using the Duo Mobile app instead of receiving text messages to access your student accounts.

During a cellular outage, you can still use Duo Push to receive login notifications over Wi-Fi. Additionally, you can use the six-digit Duo Mobile passcodes generated within the Duo Mobile app if you’re on a cruise, traveling internationally, or anywhere else without cellular service.

Don’t get locked out of your account! Download the Duo Mobile app from the Apple App Store or Google Play. Next, sign in to your GHC email account or D2L. When you see the Duo prompt, select Other options.

Click Other Options link to access the devices page

Select Manage devices from the options available to you and follow the setup instructions proided. (The options provided in the list will depend on your enrolled devices and permitted authentication methods.)

Remember, as long as you have the Duo Mobile app on your phone you have access to your GHC account using either Duo Push or the 6-digit Duo Mobile passcode generated in the app.
