Amazing class taught OUTDOORS! Find out more about the Wyoming trip!

Imagine a class that features traveling, hiking, boating, fossil collecting, touring museums, watching wildlife, national parks and more.

Sound interesting? The GHC Summer Geology Field Course gives you the opportunity to earn science credits, enough to complete your Area D requirements, and experience some of the most spectacular geological formations the west has to offer. This field course begins with four evening classes in the geology lab on the Floyd campus followed by two weeks of fieldwork in Wyoming. Yes Wyoming! Students enrolled in the class will fly to Denver, Colorado then travel north to Wyoming. You will visit Casper, Thermopolis, Cody, Yellowstone National Park, Grand Teton National Park, Jackson Hole, Kemmerer and Ft. Collins and earn eight credit hours in natural science with Geology 1121k and Geology 1122k.

Even though this summer course is months away it is already filling up fast. There is a limited number of seating remaining. Now is the time to enroll! Earning your science credits in the summer gives you flexibility in your schedule, which allows you the opportunity to complete more of your core requirements in the fall and spring semesters. Class dates are June 7- 10 and travel dates are June 14-26.

You can find complete details and the application at www.highlands.edu/wyoming . If you have questions you can contact Professor Morris via the contact tab on the website or at bmorris@highlands.edu Why Wyoming? Because geology shouldn’t be a class. It should be an EXPERIENCE.

“Every place we went I laughed and had fun but I most importantly saw and physically touched some of the things we learned about. It was an amazing way to learn because I was able to ask questions about things that were in front of me that helped me better understand what we were learning.”
