How will you spend Summer 2021?

What if you could combine earning science credits with traveling, hiking, boating, fossil collecting, touring museums, watching wildlife and more? Would you be interested? GHC gives you the opportunity to enroll in a summer geology field course based in Wyoming that offers all of this and more. It’s an opportunity to complete your Area D science requirements and experience some of the most beautiful and varied landscapes in the U.S. Why Wyoming? Because some things can’t be explained, only experienced. This field course begins with four evening classes in the geology lab on the Floyd campus followed by two weeks of field work in Wyoming. Students will travel to Denver, Casper, Thermopolis, Cody, Yellowstone National Park, Grand Teton National Park, Jackson Hole, Kemmerer and Ft. Collins and earn eight credit hours in natural science with Geology 1121k and Geology 1122k.

Enrollment is limited and this course will fill up fast. Now is the time to enroll! Earning your science credits in the summer gives you flexibility in your schedule which allows you the opportunity to complete more of your core requirements in the fall and spring semesters. Class dates are June 7- 10 and travel dates are June 14-26.

You can find complete details and the application at www.highlands.edu/wyoming . If you have questions you can contact Professor Morris via the contact tab on the website or at bmorris@highlands.edu Why Wyoming? Because geology shouldn’t be a class. It should be an EXPERIENCE.

“After partaking in the trip I developed a different way of thinking about the world and the beauty of nature around us. The trip opened my eyes to see the value of the natural things that many take for granted each day. Unconsciously, I’ve become an activist for a greener world. I now take photos on Instagram of natural settings and I personify them to express the beauty of all things that are geology. The trip changed not only my view about the earth but also, about life.”
