Chargers vs. Albany Tech Saturday: Women 2pm, Men 4pm

Hello Charger Nation,

As our basketball season winds down, our teams are looking for your support in their quest for conference championships and births in the national tournament.

The Lady Chargers got back in the win column on Monday as they took down East Georgia State 67-52. The Lady Chargers (10-8 overall and 6-2 in GCAA play) were led by O’Mariyah Tucker with 21 points. Saturday they take on the Lady Titans of Albany Tech (5-10 and 3-5) who are led by #3 Mahogany Brown, who is averaging 12.2 points per game. GHC currently sits in 2nd place in the conference and are looking to secure a home-court game in the GCAA tournament as they attempt to bring the title back to GHC for the first time since the 2015-16 season.

The Chargers (13-4 and 4-0) are coming off a huge 73-66 road win at South Georgia State to extend the Chargers win streak to 10 games. The Chargers had four players in double digits. Trevin Wade led the way with 21, Cahiem Brown and Langston Wilson had 15 apiece , and Taj Fraley added 12. The Charger men will also take on Albany Tech this Saturday. First-place Albany Tech (12-6 and 5-0) is coming off a win over Andrew College, 76-62. The Titans’ Vinicius Viana leads the GCAA in scoring, averaging  25.8 points per game. The winner of this game will be in sole possession of first-place in the conference and have the inside track at hosting the GCAA tournament finals. Let’s help the Chargers bring this back to Rome for the first time in two years.

Both games are held in the gymnasium (The Corral) on the Floyd campus. The women tip-off at 2:00PM with the men to follow about 4:00PM. Between the women’s and men’s game, we will be recognizing all of our student-athletes (from all teams) who had a GPA of 3.0 or higher in the Fall semester. All faculty, staff, and students from all campuses get in FREE.

Please consider coming out to support your Chargers on the court and giving recognition to our scholar-athletes.
