Alabama Shakespeare trip registration begins Feb. 4

Registration for the 35th Annual Alabama Shakespeare Festival trip to Montgomery, Ala. will begin Monday, February 4.  This year’s trip set for the weekend of April 25-26.  As usual, the trip is open to GHC faculty, staff, students and their guests.

This year’s trip will feature “The Comedy of Errors” by Shakespeare and the comedy/drama “I and You” by Lauren Gunderson. These will both be performed by the ASF professional acting company.  This year’s trip will also feature a side-trip to the Legacy Museum and the National Memorial for Peace and Justice. The performances by ASF’s professional acting company are consistently superb, and the highly-acclaimed Legacy Museum is worthwhile all by itself.

The trip fee varies according to how many will share a hotel room, and it includes lodging and breakfast at The Holiday Inn Express, transportation by chartered tour bus, tickets to the two plays, tickets to all side excursions, supper Saturday at Golden Corral, a boxed lunch on the theater grounds Sunday, and a packet of information about the plays and places to be visited. This year’s trip fee is

  • $130 per person for four per room (two queen beds)
  • $140 per person for three per room (two queen beds)
  • $160 per person for two per room (two queen beds)
  • $220 for a single

Roommates can be assigned for students that do not have a preferred rooming partner.

A $50 deposit is required at registration to secure a spot. The deposit becomes non-refundable on March 9. The balance for the trip is due by April 1.

Sign-up will begin February 4th in the Office of Student Life at all GHC locations.

The trip flyer will soon be posted online at https://sites.highlands.edu/student-life/trips/asf/ . Trip sign-up forms and travel waivers will also be posted at that site. Those who want to sign-up for the trip may print out the sign-up form and waivers and bring them when they come to sign-up for the trip, but paper copies of the forms should also be available from Student Life at all campuses.
