GHC Great Britain study abroad program

Dear GHC Students,

Traveling to another country as part of a study abroad program is a wonderful way to broaden your horizons and learn more about other places and cultures. College students who go on study abroad trips typically remark that it was one of the most enjoyable and rewarding experiences of their time in college. And as study abroad programs include summer courses, they are a great way to earn course credits that move you towards degree completion. Participation in a study abroad program also looks great on a resume, especially as employers increasingly value international experience in potential employees. Study abroad is not only a unique and fun learning experience, but it could well help you get a job one day.

For the 2019-2020 academic year, Georgia Highlands College will have a one week study abroad program to Great Britain. Our trip will be based in London, one of the most exciting and cosmopolitan cities in the world. While in London, we will visit major attractions such as the Houses of Parliament, Big Ben, the Tower of London and Buckingham Palace and much more. We will also travel outside of London to Windsor Castle, Oxford University and Stratford-Upon-Avon, the birthplace of William Shakespeare. These are just a few of the wonderful places we will visit in Great Britain!

The dates for this trip are Friday, May 20-Saturday, May 30, 2020. The trip coincides with the Maymester summer term and offers courses in Communication, Business, Health Sciences and History during the Maymester and full summer session (June and July) terms. Study abroad is a fantastic way to see the world and take courses linked to the trip that move you closer to graduation. For more detailed information on the GHC Great Britain study abroad program, including a complete itinerary, a full list of courses, the price and payment information, financial aid and scholarships, a student application and so forth, please see the website at the following link:

In addition to the GHC Great Britain study abroad program, students interested in traveling to Europe or Asia for month long study abroad programs have the option of participating in University System of Georgia study abroad programs through USG Goes Global and KSU’s Montepulciano, Italy program. Information on these programs can be found on the tabs off the main GHC study abroad page website as follows:

At Georgia Highlands College, study abroad is open to all students. Students with financial aid can often use it towards the price of a study abroad trip and especially towards the cost of courses linked to study abroad programs. Students who are interested in study abroad are strongly urged to speak with a Financial Aid counselor in person to learn the details of how they can use their financial aid towards study abroad. Furthermore, the GHC Foundation has a scholarship for European study abroad programs called the Jim Cook Study Abroad Scholarship. Georgia Highlands College will also have several study abroad information sessions in the coming months for students interested in these study abroad programs. Information about the dates and locations of these sessions will be made available soon.
