SMP jobs available for Fall ’19!

The Six Mile Post, GHC’s award-winning student news organization, is now accepting applications for staff positions for the 2019-2020 academic year. New and returning students of all pathways are welcome on the SMP staff.

Starting fall semester, the SMP needs writers, photographers, and artists at all GHC locations. Since the SMP covers GHC basketball at Floyd and baseball and softball at Cartersville, sports writers and photographers are a special need there. In addition, there will be leadership positions open at Floyd and Cartersville.

The staff leadership positions—editors, assistant editors, chief photographer, and ad manager—are paid positions with salaries running from approximately $800-$3000 for the year, depending on the amount of work required. Most of the students on the SMP staff will be unpaid, but the paid and unpaid positions all offer a great chance to develop skills, see your work published, belong to an important college group, meet new people, and build your resume. You may also be eligible to receive state, regional, or national awards for your work as have previous SMPers.

So if you like to write, take photos, do art or graphics, like to be in the know, and want to be sure your campus gets the coverage it deserves, why not give the SMP a try. Just go to www.sixmilepost.com and use the short Staff Application form under the Links heading at the right of the page. Later on you will receive a reply to the email address you put on the application.
