Sign-up NOW for Alabama Shakespeare Festival trip!

Want to earn some extra credit and have fun doing it?

Give ASF a try!

Students who participate in Georgia Highlands College’s annual trip to the Alabama Shakespeare Festival in Montgomery the weekend of April 13-14 will receive extra credit in any English class, and extra credit is available in many other classes too. Ask your instructors now about extra credit opportunities related to the trip since trip sign-up ends March 4 (unless the trip fills up before then).

Sponsored by the Department of Student Life and the Humanities Division, the trip is open to GHC students, employees, and their guests.

The fee for the trip ranges from $110-$135 per person (depending on the choice of 2, 3, or 4 per hotel room) and covers tour bus transportation; one night at a Best Western with breakfast; tickets to “Romeo and Juliet,” by Shakespeare, and the comedy-drama “Steel Magnolias,” by Robert Harling,  performed by the ASF professional acting company; supper at Golden Corral; a boxed lunch on the theater grounds; and a packet of information on the two plays. A side excursion to the Montgomery Museum of Fine Arts is also included in the trip, and another trip activity is being planned. It is estimated that approximately $25 will be needed to pay for the meals not included in the trip fee and any snacks.

A limited number of spots are available, and the trip is usually a sell-out. So sign up early to reserve your place in our annual spring getaway. It’s so much fun you’ll hardly notice it’s educational too!

Sign-up will be handled by the Student Life office at any GHC location. A $50 deposit must be paid at sign-up. The deposit is refundable until the sign-up deadline of March 4. (Since the trip usually fills up before the sign-up deadline, it is best to reserve a spot as soon as you can.) The balance of the trip fee is due March 20, and the balance becomes non-refundable on that date. (A limited amount of financial assistance is available for some of those who have trouble affording the full trip fee. The ASF Financial Assistance Forms will be available in the same offices that will have the sign-up forms. The completed ASF Financial Assistance Forms, which require a written statement by both the student and a faculty member, must be returned to Student Life by Feb. 20.)
