Do you have an innovative business idea?

Take on the Charger Innovation Challenge!  Register with a team or by yourself.  All degree levels and disciplines are welcome!  Briefly describe (500 words or less) your innovative idea during registration and prepare a 3-5 minute pitch.  It’s Shark Tank, Charger style!

Challenge Rules

  • Teams must register for the Challenge.
  • Teams may consist of one (1) to three (3) students.
  • Teams may be interdisciplinary.
  • During registration, teams much submit a maximum of 500 words describing their innovative idea or business.
  • The registration deadline is March 20, 2020. No submissions will be allowed after this date.
  • Workshops are optional for all teams.
  • Teams must create a three (3) to five (5) minute pitch to present to judges on April 25.
  • Teams must participate in the five (5) minute question-answer session after the pitch.

Submissions

  • When students register for the CIC, they will be required to submit no more than 500 words describing their innovation.
  • Submissions should be well written, organized, and address key points.
  • Entries should represent an innovative yet practical idea. The goal is to have the judges react by asking themselves, “Why didn’t I think of that?”
  • Teams are encouraged to back up their claims with research or market facts. While this is encouraged, it is not mandatory for participation.
  • Teams will prepare a 3-5-minute pitch to present to the judging panel on April 25. Visual aids are welcomed and encouraged.
  • Each pitch will be followed by a five-minute question-answer session with the judging panel, who are free to ask for clarification or justification they need.

Teams

  • Teams will consist of one (1) to three (3) students in good standing.
  • Open to all GHC students in any degree program.
    • Students are encouraged to team up with students of other majors.
  • Teams must appoint a Team Captain. The Captain will be the main point of contact for the team.
    • Single person teams will be considered the Team Captain when registering for the event.
  • Teams are encouraged to create a visual aid for the pitch portion of the Challenge.

Judging

  • The judging panel will consist of five (5) experts from the Corporate and Entrepreneurship business sectors.
  • The judging panel will be given five (5) minutes for a question-answer session in which they are free to ask clarifying questions.
  • Pitches will be judged on five criteria: innovation, creativity, viability, how it fills a market need, and presentation enthusiasm and passion.
